Before joining HNC, there are a few vital pre-enrolment tasks that you should complete. This will allow you to be set up and ready to learn from the start of your HNC journey. Not all the pre-enrolment tasks will be essential for everyone, so please review the below information and complete the tasks that are right for you.
Membership badges

Both staff and students at HNC wear membership badges attached to colour coded lanyards at all times whilst on site. In fact, even our visitors and contractors wear lanyards when on site – this is so that we can easily identify who is who which helps us to keep everyone safe. Membership badges are also key to moving between buildings. We ask all applicants to upload a picture to our student records system, CEDAR, by Friday 10 July. Students who do this, will have their membership badges available to collect on induction day. Applicants who do not do this will need to come to HNC for an in-person appointment during enrolment. Please note that images must be head on and recognisably you, in a passport style image. This can just be taken on your phone or tablet, and uploaded as a JPEG.
Student bursary

HNC operates a means tested student bursary programme. There are three different priorities, and students who apply will be asked to complete a form on our website, and provide evidence so that we can assess your application and ensure that if you meet the criteria for support, you have it in place. You only need to apply for a student bursary if your household income is below £30,000 so this is not a pre-enrolment task that has to be completed by all applicants. If you complete the form by Friday 10 July 2026, we will guarantee that support will be in place from your very first day. This may be in the form of financial support, free school meals, or an M-Card for travel purposes. If you have any questions about HNC’s student bursary, you can email studentfinance@huddnewcoll.ac.uk
Take the HNC ‘getting to know you’ survey

We ask all applicants to take part in the HNC getting to know you survey. This helps us to understand your needs and what we can do to support you through your time at HNC. Here we ask questions about travel, support, sporting commitments and additional learning needs, making it an essential part of your transition from school to college. We ask that all students complete by Friday 1 June.
